I can’t believe it is already July! The summer is flying by and there are tons of local events that you won’t want to miss. So, I’ve made your go-to guide for finding the perfect activities for you and your family this fourth of July.  

Kings Dominion – July 3rd – July 4th 

Enjoy tons rides and a water park while ending the day with a firework show. Active/Retired military personnel as well as veterans that have been honorably or medically discharged will receive free admission  from now until July 8th! Kings Dominion is in Doswell, VA right off 95.  

Heritage Festival – July 4th  

If you choose to attend this event get ready for a day full of activities. There will be something for the whole family at this event.  

7:45am: Heritage Festival Five-Mile Run

Catch the bus or trolley from downtown or from the Eagles Lodge on Cool Springs Road. Ferry Farm parking is handicapped only. Tours of the
Washington house, archaeology, music, games, crafts, family activities, re-enactors, and history theater.

1:00pm: Flag Retirement Ceremony  

Fairfax’s 52nd Annual Independence Day Celebration – July 4th 

This event will be held at 4100 Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax. There will be a parade around downtown Fairfax in the afternoon, followed by music and children’s activities at Fairfax High School. The fireworks show will begin after dark around 9:15! 

Alexandria Birthday Celebration – July 7th 

This celebration will be held on Saturday July 7th, from 6-10pm at Oronoco Bay Park in Alexandria. It is going to be one big celebration of America’s 242nd birthday and Alexandria’s 269th. Attendees will be able to enjoy live music, cake and food vendors. After dark there will be a gorgeous firework show over the Potomac River.  

An American Celebration at Mount Vernon – July 4th 

This celebration will be held from 9am until 5pm. There will be daytime fireworks over the Potomac River. As well as cannon fire and military re-enactments. The cost of the is event is included in the admission to Mount Vernon.  

A Capitol Fourth – July 4th 

This event will be held from 8-9:30 pm on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. There will be performances by Jimmy Buffett, the Temptations, the Beach Boys, and Luke Combs & more. John Stamos will host the event as they honor our country’s 242nd birthday. (Gates open at 3pm) 

DC Fireworks Display – July 4th 

This display will be held at the National Mall. The fireworks will be launches from the area that reflects the pool and will be visible from many different locations in Washington D.C. & Northern Virginia. They will begin at 9:09pm.
